COVID CANCELLATION HITS THE WHO

Feb 16, 2021

The band were due to kick off their UK and Ireland tour on March 8th in Liverpool but have had to scrap the plans because of the ongoing pandemic.

Roger Daltry and Pete Townshend issued a joint statement saying, “We are very sorry we have to cancel our planned March 2021 UK and Ireland shows. Please excuse the delay but we wanted to wait as long as possible to see if we could indeed play them. However, as you can see the current situation makes this impossible. Thanks for all your wonderful support and we hope to see you in the future when conditions allow.”

Townshend has made it clear that the band won’t follow the example of other musicians by moving their gigs on-line. He is quoted as saying,

“The idea of doing an online concert really suits musicians who are very independent. It doesn’t suit old rock ‘n’ roll elitists like me.” The legendary guitarist also promised the gigs will definitely be re-scheduled. ” It may be the last time we do a tour of this type, so keep those tickets, as the shows will be fantastic.”

While we wait for news remember you can hear the band in action non-stop on the only radio station dedicated entirely to their music,
