On October 13th, 2016 Bob Dylan was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature.
Bob was 75 at the time and was given the prize “for having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition”.
Subsequently, at the Nobel Banquet in Stockholm on December 10th, 2016, Dylan’s speech was given by Azita Raji, U.S. Ambassador to Sweden. Patti Smith accepted Dylan’s Nobel and performed his song A Hard Rain’s A-Gonna Fall, to orchestral accompaniment.
