ELTON JOHN’S LOCKDOWN SESSIONS

Oct 29, 2021

In the past three years Elton John has written his autobiography, “Me”, overseen an Oscar-winning biopic, “Rocketman”, and played more than 180 live shows – so he could have been forgiven for taking it easy during the enforced lockdown.

Inaction isn’t in Elton’s DNA however, and once he had co-written a song with his L.A. neighbour Charlie Puth it was inevitable that other collaborations would follow.

First came the song that would deliver him his first No 1 single for 16 years, Cold Heart, with Dua Lipa and Pnau; then a range of hook-ups with artists as diverse as country singer Jimmie Allen and rapper Young Thug, along with Lil Nas X, Nicki Minaj and many more.

The album on which they all find their home is The Lockdown Sessions.

More than 50 years on from his first big hit Elton, the vibrant elder statesman, remains as relevant the music biz as ever.

You can hear tracks from The Lockdown Sessions on our dedicated Elton John radio station.
