He may have turned 79 in January, but Rod still has the energy of a much younger man, and his latest album Swing Fever, in collaboration with Jools Holland & his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra, fairly fizzes along.
The album was recorded in Jools’ studio and it celebrates the big band sounds of the 1930s and 1940, well-trodden ground for Rod who recorded five Great American Songbook albums between 2002 and 2010.
Curiously Rod and Jools bonded over their mutual love of model railways, but whatever the reason we think this is a great meeting of minds, which is why we’re playing a track from Swing Fever on our dedicated station.
